How to use the Leadership Competency Builder© Tool (Tutorial)

On the following page you will be presented with a 2x2 matrix, as shown below. On one axis is increasing levels of strategic importance (i.e. how important this competency is for ) and on the other is increasing levels of your current ability (i.e. how good at this competency). Alongside the matrix you will be presented with one leadership competency and its definition. Your task is as follows:

  • Sort each of the 45 competencies into one of the four quadrants.
  • When you have placed one competency, the next one will automatically appear. 
  • While all the competencies in our list may appear to be relevant and important, please identify no more than 10 (preferably 8-10) competencies in the quadrant labeled “High Priority”. The fewer, the better, as trying to focus on too many things at once is less effective.

Once you click submit, a custom feedback report will be emailed to you at the email provided.

  • You will be able to re-order and re-arrange the competencies at any time while completing the task.
